It took every ounce of restraint I had in my body not to go walk on it. Della & Suzzie were all crazy this morning … running up & down it a hundred times. Annie was in her “inspector” mode. She carefully watches any remodel I do & then sniffs the whole project several times over before giving it her “approved” snort.

The concrete for my backyard sidewalk is getting poured tomorrow & there will be pictures!

And …

why didn't I think of this sooner?

That’s a view out my back door. I put those boards up tonight to keep my dogs from dashing directly out the back door right on to the new sidewalk after the sidewalk is poured. I am also putting up a chicken wire fence to keep them off it … since a chicken wire fence keeps them out of the garden. This came out of necessity. My dog sitter isn’t available tomorrow afternoon & overnight. Price-wise, this option came out cheaper than taking them to the sitter … but I did stress about it a lot before coming up with these solutions.

The reason I’m saying “why didn’t I think of this before” is because for the past 3 weeks I’ve been living with 3 dogs using a dirt path for their fun runway & then coming into the house with all of that dirt (black topsoil) on their paws. It would have saved me a lot of cleaning.

I was getting tired of waiting & talking to the concrete dudes that I didn’t think it would get done until sometime next week because they were behind on their other jobs due to weather delays. I was getting frustrated & took Friday off work because the $$ I saved up for the sidewalk was burning a hole in my pocket. I was going to head out of town & spend some of the money just enjoying the day away.

Then I got a phone call: “Weather permitting … sidewalk on Friday.”

My backyard walk concrete pour is schedule for Friday… please cross everything, pray, or do whatever you influence MotherNature.

For 10 winters I complained about having to park in my alley due to winter parking restrictions. Half of the complaining was because my alley floods horribly during snow melt, but the other half was walking through the yard on the grass to get to my back door.

Half of the complaining will go away … I’m putting a sidewalk through the back yard.

Last night after I went to bed, there was a lively conversation happening on Facebook in which I was tagged in. Reading the comments made me go look in my blog database and find the post from December 7, 2007 that was being referenced on Facebook. It took a bit of searching because all of the source files for the theme/skin are on my old computer, but I found the image files in a backup folder I have on my new computer.

I recreated the header and the conversation behind what made me create it is below. I keep laughing so hard EVERY TIME I READ IT!
