About a month ago, my new upholstered sofa & loveseat was delivered.

A week later, I was going out of town & arranged for the demolition of my living room while I was gone. This is what it looked liked when I left.

A couple of days later, I returned home to a newly rewired & dry-walled living room. It’s been the same way ever since … except I moved some of the furniture back in.

Underneath the carpeting that was removed is T&G pine flooring. It is in good condition, but has been painted… or more like primed. Spot primed. I am thinking that it was done after the fire (late 70s or early 80s) to contain the smoke smell.

Once I saw the wood floor, I decided not to go back to wall-to-wall carpeting. It’s just a nightmare with 2 dogs that shed like crazy. I am going to have the floor stripped & sealed… then put down an area rug.

Deciding on a rug has been tough!

I’ve narrowed it down to four choices. Listed below the picture: vendor, price, & my thoughts on it. They are in no particular order. I let the computer insert them into the post randomly. Once I figure out a rug, then the task of deciding on a wall color begins.

Katelyn – Menards – $159

The browns in it are similar to my newly upholstered furniture. Burgundy is my favorite color. Black is the color of my fixtures. The print is similar to the fabric on my tone-on-tone cream color rocker.

Festival 8773 Black – Rugs Direct – $138

Color thoughts are the same as the Katelyn … however, I do love the blue-grey thrown in. The modern print will not make my house look so old-fashioned even though several pieces of my furniture are antique/traditional.

Swirl Tan – Home Depot – $120

I love the simplicity of this one. The colors compliment the new upholstery wonderfully. I like how the colors work with my burgundy upholstered chairs. Another modern print to contrast the pieces of antique/traditional furniture. But … the curtains being either unbleached linen or dropcloth & with the tone-on-tone rocking chair in the room (instead of the burgundy chairs), I’ll have all blah colors.

Modern Tapestry – Menards – $160

This was my first choice. However, in real life, the blue is not my taste in blue. If the blues were more grey or more denim-ish, it would be the unanimous winner.

The post title & picture is from my other close friend from church. She took this picture of Wendy this morning. Karen told Wendy that the tube in her nose made her look like a hummingbird & took a picture of it to show Wendy.

Tonight when I went to the hospital to relieve Jennifer, the nurses had Wendy up walking around … I watched her walk 2 laps around the nurses station. This girl is determined to get out of the hospital ASAP!

That probably won’t happen for a few days … after all, she went in what they thought was a gallbladder surgery & turned into a burst appendix & partial intestine removal.

Even though we’ve been to movies & dinner & see each other at church, Wendy rarely speaks to me. Tonight at the hospital we shared a lot of stories. Sometimes it’s babble & sometimes she signs. We’ve never spoke this much to each other before… her so clear and me actually understand what she was saying. She didn’t like that the nurse was laughing because the IV beeper kept going off. (The nurse was doing it out of frustration.) She told the nurse, “Not funny to me.” She said to me, “Your name close to honey. I don’t like being called that.” Me either. The staff kept calling us honey. She said, “Glad you here.”

Me too.

I’ve been better with needles & hospitals & blood & stuff like that since ExBoyD had his heart surgery… but not much. So glad I have a support team.

Took my sister Pauline to the hospital for her kidney transplant evaluation & lived though those couple of days. Called Jennifer.

Raced my brother to the regional hospital (on icy roads … I hate driving in snow) when his kidneys failed. Called Jennifer.

Jennifer’s daughter … disabled from birth … is 26 years old but functions with the mentality of a 7 year old. They went to the ER last night because her appendix burst. Wendy is going to be in the hospital for at least week & Jennifer will be there as much as she can.

I’m there to help her as much as I can. I guess this will be a test of how I can tolerate cats & hospitals & needles. I don’t like cats & she has a few of them, but Jennifer has been there for me whenever I called.
